Laid-off advisor claiming commissions
A former executive vice president for GenSpring Family Offices is suing the SunTrust Banks subsidiary for at least $280,000 in owed commissions.
John Morris, who had been a wealth manager in the SunTrust organization since March 2006, was laid off during a “reduction-in-force” last December. His last day of work was Dec. 31, according to the suit. Morris claims that several GenSpring executives told him he would be paid commissions related to new client relationships he helped cultivate that were finalized in December.
